Police search for hole in the wall burglar

HARLEM

He gets into the stores by breaking holes in walls and rooftops of buildings that are being renovated.

He has come through roof tops, ceilings and walls. He's even tried to go through brick.

The burglar has hit 15 shops on Lenox Avenue, 125th Street and 1st Avenue, avoiding most of the cameras and cutting wires to entire security systems.

What shopkeepers cannot believe is how much he seems to know about their buildings, where the cameras are and what walls or rooftops are vulnerable.

David Soleimani has had two shoe stores here on 125th for 10 years and has never seen anything like this -- and actually he says still hasn't "seen" anything since the burglar somehow eludes cameras coming in and then manually turns the cameras away from what he's doing.

The suspect is described a Hispanic man between 25-30 years old, 5'08", and 145 pounds.

Brief surveillance video of him was captured during a burglary on 125th Street on December 20.
