Rents in Manhattan go up again

Rents in Manhattan increased in the last quarter of 2011, with median prices going up to $3,121.

That is a 9.5 percent jump from last year.

New leases are also up, with nearly 8,000 tenants moving in.

It took an average of 37 days for vacant apartments to be rented.

Landlords said demand for apartments let them increase their rents.
