NEW YORK --
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer is calling for an overhaul of a Lower East Side intersection, following the death of a 12-year-old girl.
A minivan struck and killed the girl as she was crossing Delancey Street at Clinton Street on Friday.
Stringer says her death was senseless and that there were more than 520 accidents at the intersection, between 2008 and 2010 alone.
He says he has already proposed increased crossing times, expanded medians, better signs and crossing guards.
