Heavy fire tore through the three-story home on Himrod Street just after 8:20 a.m.
Smoke detectors went off and fire alarms sent residents down the back fire escape to get out.
But not everyone could get out so easily. A 12-year-old and his mother, who live on the third floor, screamed for help and firefighters rescued them using a bucket.
Three residents and four firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Investigators are looking for what caused this fire.
