A dozen store and restaurant owners in three New Jersey towns woke up Sunday morning to find their businesses were broken into by thieves.

The overnight smash-and-grab burglaries happened in Clifton, New Milford and Garfield.

Most of them are small, family-owned businesses.

Police are trying to figure out if the burglaries are connected and what was taken from each location.
