Eyewitness News video shows the word "school" misspelled as s-h-c-o-o-l in a crossing sign on the street outside the Lower East Side Preparatory School.
School officials reportedly blame a utility worker for misspelling the word after the road was dug up by utility crews.
But the school's PTA president says she's shocked that no one from the school reported the mistake.
