Over 90 deaths attributed to 2003 blackout

NEW YORK

A new analysis of data from that summer found there was a 28% spike in deaths during the power outage.

City health officials had attributed six deaths to the blackout, most from carbon monoxide poisoning.

But researchers now say there were 90 other fatalities. Some were from accidents, but most were from health problems including heart and respiratory conditions.
