Two men were injured when a shopping cart fell from the 3rd floor of a parking garage at Gateway Center at Bronx Terminal Market in Mott Haven.

The men were walking on the street near the entrance to the Home Depot when they were struck by the shopping cart.

It happened at around 5:30 p.m.

Both were rushed to Lincoln Medical Center.

One of the victims, a 52-year-old man, went right into surgery and was in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The other victim is 30 years old and is in stable condition. Fortunately, both men are expected to survive.

The cart hit both men in the head.

"He wasn't moving. He looked like, unconscious, hope he's OK," said Elvis Nieves, an eyewitness.

Police are looking for at least one person.

Witnesses could only describe him as a black man wearing a dark hoodie.

Detectives are looking for surveillance video in hopes of getting a better description.

Management for Bronx Terminal Market released a statement saying, "We are aware of the unfortunate incident and are working closely with the local authorities."

The incident is similar to a Harlem prank in which two 12-year-old boys pushed a shopping cart off a fourth-floor walkway critically injuring 47-year-old Marion Hedges. She was left with permanent brain damage.

The boys have both pleaded guilty to assault in the Oct. 30 episode.
