81-year-old woman struck by stray bullet

NEW YORK

The grandmother was sitting down at the table inside her home on Barbey Street in /*East New York*/ when she was hit by a stray bullet.

The victim, Agripina Commacho, is the grandmother of an NYPD officer who works on Commissioner Ray Kelly's security detail. Now, police are trying to figure out who the shooter was who left a bullet lodged in Commacho's cheek.

Dozens of police officers and detectives are on the case, fanning out across East New York looking for information.

"There was a bullet that came through the window," son Joseph Commacho said. "She was shot in the face."

Agripina Commacho had just gotten up to lock the door to her apartment, where she's lived for 30 years, when the stray bullet zipped through the window and hit her below the left eye.

Commacho's son rushed to his mother's side at Brookdale Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.

"I want the police to do everything they can so we can get justice," he said.

Kiara Spencer lives nearby.

"It's too crazy over here," she said. "They shoot for no reason...It could've been anybody. They don't have no regards for anything that goes on over here."

Police ask that anyone with information call 1-800-577-TIPS.
