LIers racking up cell phone while driving tickets

Drivers on Long Island are racking up some serious fines for talking and texting on their cell phones.

In the past six months, police departments in Suffolk County issued more than 5,300 tickets for ignoring the state's hands-free laws.

New York City was the only area of the state that had more tickets issued during that time.

Nassau County came in third, with more than 4,300 hundred tickets.
