There's a break in a cold case in New Jersey.

A murder victim whose body was found dumped by the Passaic River in 2008 has finally been identified.

The victim is 48-year-old Mieczyslaw Zajac.

Police say a DNA match and a tattoo helped make a positive ID.

His body was found on the river bank by workers at a nearby plant.

Investigators say Zajac suffered multiple traumatic injuries.
