New drug doubles Melanoma survival time

NEW YORK

It's a drug called Zelboraf.

A study found it can double the survival time of people with malignant melanoma, from eight months to 16 months.

The disease kills 9,000 people each year in the U.S.

It's usually fatal once it spreads.

Doctors say if you notice anything that's changed on your skin, have it checked immediately.
