East Haven mayor calls for unity after protest

EAST HAVEN, Conn.

Four East Haven police officers were arrested last month by the FBI and accused of singling out illegal immigrants for abuse.

Marchers on Saturday carried United States' and foreign flags, chanting slogans denouncing police abuses and calling for an end to civil rights violations.

One protester wore a T-shirt declaring "Being Brown Is Not A Crime" A U.S. Department of Justice representative monitored the March for Unity that attracted activists from as far as Brooklyn, N.Y.

Maturo later said that he is committed to rebuilding trust with all groups.

He pledged to work with everyone to restore faith in the police department and government.
