Drivers crossing the border for cheap gas

Old plates, gold plates, cars with New York license plates all jammed into a gas station in New Jersey, and that's no accident.

With prices on the rise, many Garden State gas stations along the New York border say business is booming.

How much?

Well in Mahwah you can buy a gallon of regular for $3.55 cash.

Less than 3 miles away, that same gallon sells for $4.29.

Even at less expensive stations, the difference is over 40 cents a gallon.

The idea of saving a few dollars by gassing up in Jersey is nothing new.

What has changed are the routines of some drivers who say they're making it point to cross the border.

Motorists from Orange County, to the Poconos, say they are willing to drive a little longer to save a lot more.
