Civil suits filed against 20 toll violators

NEW YORK

The Port Authority says the lawsuits were filed Thursday in New Jersey against the "most egregious" toll violators. The agency says it is enforcing a new zero-tolerance policy for drivers who fail to pay tolls.

The department recently created a "Wall of Shame" on its website that lists about three dozen companies and individuals who owe the agency more than $50,000 in tolls and fees.

Port Authority Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni says: "The Port Authority police are committed to apprehending those who try to cheat the system."
