Residents of an apartment building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn have been allowed back into their homes Monday night.

The Buildings Department evacuated all eight apartments inside the building at 224 Manhattan Avenue.

The department says the chimney is not stable, and is compromising the buildings stability.

The owner, Abelardo Felites, must repair the chimney.

If he doesn't, the city will make the repairs and bill him.

The Red Cross gave the one affected family housing and a cash card.
