City leaders gathered in Madison Square Park for a ceremony naming the playground after the late NYPD Officer Moira Smith.
She helped save hundreds of lives when she helped evacuate the World Trade Center, Tower 2.
Among those attending the dedication was her widower and daughter.
"It warns our hearts to know that this place which brings such joy to children, this place full of life and laughter will bear Moira's name," widower Jim Smith said.
Smith was one of 23 NYPD officers killed on September 11, 2001.
