Mediator called in to discuss teacher evaluations

A special mediator is being called in to settle an evaluation dispute between the city's Department of Education and the teachers union.

Union leaders says they have been unable to reach an agreement with the city on how to conduct teacher evaluations at 33 low-performing schools.

Because there is no deal in place, the state is withholding $58 million in school improvement grants.
