Sex offender arrested in sex assault of girl

A registered sex offender is under arrest on Long Island, accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.

45-year-old Daniel Rodriguez was arrested at his home in Bay Shore Thursday.

He's charged with Aggravated Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree, Promoting a Sexual Performance of a Child, Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance and Failure to register as a Sex Offender.

Rodriguez was ordered to register as a sex offender after being convicted of rape in 19-92.

He's lived in Suffolk County since he was released from jail in October 1997.

Rodriguez served five and a half years for 1st degree rape. He failed to register on his most recent move.

He's scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Central Islip.
