Occupy Wall Street gearing up for more protests

NEW YORK

They marched in Lower Manhattan towards the New York Stock Exchange.

The group says its gearing up to resume the kind of regular protests it had last fall.

Followed and surrounded by an army of police, Occupy Wall Street protesters tried to get as close as possible to the New York Stock Exchange.

They timed their march to coincide with the stock market's closing bell, but barricades and uniformed officers kept them away.

Eyewitness News saw only one scuffle, a confrontation between a protester and officers at Zuccotti Park.

Surrounded by the media, cameras, and a noisy crowd, the argument ended without incident.

Occupy Wall Street spokesperson Mark Bray says he's hoping the movement will gain steam and momentum as the weather gets warmer.

Occupy Wall Street is planning to hold marches every Friday through April.
