Police arrest man in woman's abduction

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.

It happened at 6:10 a.m. on Rutgers Street, near Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick.

Several witnesses called 911 to say that they saw the suspect grab the woman and force her into a van before driving away.

24-year-old Porfirio Nunez-Mosquea of North Brunswick was charged with kidnapping, robbery, attempted aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact, criminal restraint, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

While police searched for the victim, she called police shortly after 7 a.m. and told authorities the suspect had released her.

Investigators determined that Nunez-Mosquea brandished a handgun, drove the woman to an apartment on Jersey Avenue and attempted to sexually assault her.

The woman also was robbed during the incident.

Nunez-Mosquea was arrested at his residence in North Brunswick at 11:30 a.m. and was charged at about 7 p.m.

Bail was set at $500,000 for Nunez-Mosquea, who must post the full amount before he can be released from custody.
