Man hit by train on Upper West Side

Police arrive on the scene of a Manhattan subway accident in which a man was hit by a train.

A man was hit by a subway train on the Upper West Side Sunday while walking on the tracks. The man was struck by a northbound "C" train in the tunnel, near the 96th street station.

Train service in the area was disrupted all morning.

The man, who's in his 50s, was taken to St. Luke's hospital with head injuries.

Authorities have not released his identity.

Why he was on the tracks is still under investigation.
