2 hurt, one critically, in Queens apartment fire

NEW YORK

The fire broke out in the Ardsley apartment complex on 88th Street just after 7:30 a.m.

Firefighters fought through the smoke filled fourth floor to find a woman passed out between the bedroom and hallway in the apartment.

They performed CPR on the woman as they carried her down the stairs and to a waiting ambulance.

The woman was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, but was expected to survive.

A man in the apartment sustained less serious injuries. He was also rushed to the hospital, where he is stable.

The cause was under investigation.
