Work resumes on No. 7 extension after crane accident

Work to extend the No. 7 seven subway line has resumed Tuesday, less than a week after a deadly crane collapse.

One worker was killed and three others injured when two huge sections came crashing down on the site at 33rd Street and 11th Avenue in Manhattan last Tuesday evening.

The project will extend the line from Times Square to just across from the Javits Center.

The New York City Department of Buildings says engineers have found defects in the hoisting system of the crane, and that maintenance and operation of the crane prior to the accident has become the focus of their investigation.
