The Manhattan-bound lanes will be closed from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for roadway "retexturing."
Traffic will be diverted to the Lincoln Tunnel.
The Port Authority says "retexturing" is primarily done to improve the skid resistance on the tunnel's road surface. Workers will also clean grease and oil residue to make the roadway safer.
The Holland Tunnel's New Jersey-bound lanes will be closed during the same overnight hours next weekend.
