LIRR service restored after car accident

A car accident that left a vehicle on the tracks in Wyandanch suspended some LIRR service Tuesday morning.

There were no trains running on the Ronkonkoma branch from Ronkonkoma to Hicksville in both directions.

Third rail power was affected, and repairs took about two hours. The crash happened around 7 a.m., and service was restored around 9:15 a.m.

The first westbound train to operate to New York was the 9:11 a.m. train, which departed Ronkonkoma 7 minutes late. The first eastbound train to Ronkonkoma departed New York at 8:14 a.m., and is scheduled to arrive in Ronkonkoma at 9:45 a.m.
