70 Suffolk cops to retire to save rookies' jobs

The Suffolk County police union has reached a deal to save the jobs of rookie officers.

Newsday is reporting that more than 70 officers plan to retire as part of the deal.

The officers had until Monday to receive the early retirement incentive.

The move makes room the new officers, who will graduate from the academy in July.
