At least six cars are all but demolished by the sleeping driver of a private sanitation truck-that did remain at the scene, police say.
"It couldn't go anywhere. The back rear tire had literally exploded off of it. It was just mangled pieces," said amateur photographer Seiko Machin.
The truck was owned by Imperial Sanitation in /*Astoria*/, Queens, but Eyewitness News was told "no comment" today when asked to speak with someone about the incident.
Meanwhile, back along Delancey Street, the damaged cars had been towed away - leaving no sign of yesterday's wreckage.
However, Edward Rodriguez, who lives in the nearby Masaryk Towers, says he won't soon forget the wreckage. His neighbor's car and his red Toyota were among those hit.
"It was totaled. The entire door was smashed into the driver's seat and the steering column was facing the right hand side of the passenger's seat," said Rodriguez.
