According to detectives, /*Manuel Carranza*/, 46, of /*New Cassel*/, does not have formal medical or dental training.
Detectives began investigating Carranza after receiving a telephone call that he was operating a dentist's office out of his home.
Carranza's office was equipped with dental equipment and various prescription medications. In addition, two electronic stun guns were recovered from the office. Authorities said he also produced a forged N.Y.S. Identification card.
Carranza is charged with Unauthorized Practice of a Crime, Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, two counts of Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree, and Criminal Diversion of a Prescription 4th Degree.
He was set to be arraigned on Thursday.
