"I came all the way from Virginia only to find out I couldn't take a cab from where the greyhound station dropped me off. Now the trains aren't working, it's a bad day," Gelinas laughed.
This "bad day", started just before 8, according to a /*Metro-North*/ spokesperson. A signal problem forced them to temporarily shut down all service on the Hudson and New Haven lines in and out of the terminal.
Instead, passengers had to go to plan B, C and D - the subway and /*Amtrak*/.
"I'm totally confused, every once in awhile, they started saying things on the speakers about what time other trains were leaving, but I asked someone about New Haven and they kept saying, 'sit tight, you'll find out soon'," said passenger Lisa Taylor.
However, soon didn't come quickly enough. Service slowly returned to normal, but it took about three and a half hours.
It wasn't just the rails but on Sunday, the roads were also a bit challenging. Roughly 32-thousand cyclists, covered about 40 miles through the area.
"They're beeping their horns, everyone is smacking their steering wheels," said driver Karen Spry.
Drivers were trying to get around the annual Five Borough Bike Tour. In order for people to pedal through the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Staten Island, officials had to close certain streets, creating a headache for most.
To others, it was all just a part of life in the big city.
