Bandits targeting victims in Middletown

Call it a sign of the times. A police cruiser slowly patrolling a four block radius in this Orange County community. Over the last three weeks there have been four violent robberies in the neighborhood, three at gunpoint.

The first two holdups targeted drivers making food deliveries in Middletown. Police say phony orders were placed from addresses along Rowan Street. When the deliverymen arrived, two men wearing hoods or bandanas robbed them.

In the third incident, a cab from syndicate taxi service was called to the same area. The driver was also robbed, but by a single suspect. Sarah Coates works for another cab company and says police have warned them to be on alert.

The final incident occurred over the weekend and involved a motorist who was flagged down by a male and a female. A gun was fired, but no one was hit.

With no solid description police have increased their presence in the neighborhood.
