Arrest made in Beats by Dr. Dre headphones theft

NEW YORK

Three men punched and robbed a 16-year-old in South Floral Park Wednesday.

Meanwhile, police in the Bronx made an arrest related to the $300 to $500 high-priced headphones.

Police say officers recognized 22-year-old Francisco Delacruz from this video.

Delacruz allegedly slashed the victim with a broken bottle while trying to steal his headphones.

The headphones have been a growing target among thieves since they hit store shelves around Christmas. There have been 172 complaints of stolen Dr. Dre Beats headphones from January 1, 2012 through May 6, 2012, compared to last year when there were only 25 complaints during the same time frame. Upper Manhattan and northern Brooklyn have reportedly seen the largest spike in robberies.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
