Top housing officials nabbed in corruption bust

NEW YORK

Michael Provenzano, the director of construction services at the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development, was taken into custody by FBI agents.

Also arrested was Luis Adorno, a former inspection supervisor in HPD's Department of Architecture and Construction Engineering.

Police say the suspects were caught in an ongoing cash-for-housing contracts corruption probe.

Last year, the investigation ensnared Wendell Walters, then a top official in HPD. He has since pleaded guilty to bribery and racketeering charges.
