NYPD: Woman, 25, runs down 17-year-old boyfriend

NEW YORK

Police are now investigating if the teen was struck intentionally.

The victim, identified by his family as Franklyn Hernandez, was run over at the intersection of Morris Avenue and East 165th Street in the /*Melrose*/ section just before 2 a.m.

Police say Hernandez was walking away from a dispute with his 25-year-old girlfriend when she apparently drove after him. She allegedly struck him with her 2003 gold Lincoln Navigator and fled the scene.

After searching the /*Bronx*/ for the vehicle for about an hour, police took the woman into custody. Detectives were questioning her, but no charges were immediately filed.

Family members say Hernandez' injuries were so severe that he died shortly after being rushed to Lincoln Hospital.
