Naked Sports Gear allows whole body to tan

NEW YORK

"The first time I came home and there were no tan lines, I had chills, I almost cried and realized we really had something," said Reilly Starr of Naked Sports gear.

Reilly Starr and Katie Sue Nicklos were determined to get rid of unwanted tan lines one sports bra at a time.

"If you are a smaller-chested individual, you could probably use it for anything you wanted to use it for. We're marketing for outdoor volleyball, yoga, cycling, tennis, anything you would do outdoors in the sun," said Nicklos.

The naked sports bra is the first of its kind - something Reilly, who has always been active, knew would fill a huge hole.

"A lot of athletes, especially beach volleyball players, wear string bikinis and tie them every which way, day one tied this way, day two this way," she said.

The secret to the bra is the part that covers your shoulders and back – it is made of a four-way stretch micromesh.

"That's the part that the sun goes through, it functions as an SPF 7-10, and where it covers is where the sun will hit your skin," added Niklos.

The rest is made of dry tech, an elastic band that gives you support.

The tops are made in Midtown - something that was very important to both women. From the patterns to the finishing touches, it is all done in the Garment District.

The team just completed their first batch, and 1300 pieces and the orders are beginning to ship.

"Every day it's an adventure and it's just been so magical, the whole experience, said Niklos.
