Dharun Ravi appeals conviction in webcam spying

The former Rutgers student convicted of bias intimidation for using a webcam to spy on his gay roommate may be in jail, but Dharun Ravi is still appealing his conviction and wants out of jail.

His lawyers have filed papers questioning the constitutionality and fairness of his trial.

Ravi is in the middle of a 30-day sentence for spying on 18-year-old Tyler Clementi with another man.

Clementi later committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge.

The suicide took place after Clementi learned Ravi recorded his encounter.

Ravi began serving his 30-day jail term on May 31.
