Sort of like that today - another hot day - although with less humidity it's not as bad as it was yesterday. At least that's the feel from my perch. (There are several people in the newsroom who disagree with me on this and saw today is worse than yesterday.)
Meteorologist Lee Goldberg is keeping track of the temps for us - and he predicts another hot day tomorrow. That will make it three days of 90 or more degrees, and makes it an official heat wave. All the common sense stuff applies - light and loose clothing, plenty of water, etc. etc. Lee and I had some fun today with lots of water - I have tons of it in my office. And yes yes yes, I know, it's not entirely "green" to use bottled water. And, yes, New York City has great tap water. It's some of the pipes I don't trust. You can have great water, but if it's traveling through pipes with lead in it, well, then, that's not so good, right? Not that I'm suggesting there's bad pipes here at Channel 7, of course!
And from hot - to hot under the collar. The New York City Rent Guidelines Board votes tonight on how high to raise rents in more than a million rent-regulated apartments. No one is ever happy in these situations - not landlords, not tenants. We'll have the vote tonight.
We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight after Game Five of the NBA Finals.
One final note, I'm off tomorrow. The column will resume on Monday.
