The Mahwah police chief said that after seeing the man's picture on 7online or the WABC-TV facebook page, a family member identified him as Russell Cox of Ocean, New Jersey.
Police say Cox was found walking in the woods behind Temple Beth Synagogue. Police said he was healthy when found, but could not remember who he was.
It is believed that Mr. Cox may have driven to Mahwah in a grey Subaru and officers are now searching various parking lots and truck stops in an attempt to locate the vehicle.
A family member was able to offer some insight into the actions of Mr. Cox which will be addressed by his family.
