Attempted Laundromat robbery turns into murder

June 27, 2012 11:23:51 AM PDT
Stamford police are investigating the murder of a man who was killed during an apparent robbery at a Laundromat.

Jimmy DeCrescenzo, 50, was found dead early Tuesday morning inside Uncle Buck's Laundry on Stillwater Avenue.

It is a crime so vexing and so incomprehensible to the people who knew DeCrescenzo that his friends can't imagine who could do it.

DeCrescenzo managed Uncle Bucks for more than 10 years. He was killed early Tuesday when he was beaten over the head during the apparent robbery attempt.

Neighbors and friends gathered at the murder scene on Tuesday night. They left flowers and lit candles, and they cried for the loss not of a wealthy man or a great business man, but of a good man.

The robber left without taking any money.
