As firefighters and continue to battle the wildfires in Colorado Springs, animal rescue groups are assisting evacuees and their pets.

Representatives of the North Shore Animal League and National Mill Dog Rescue arrived Sunday morning at the El Paso County Disaster Recovery Center.

They are providing emergency relief to those who have been evacuated from their homes in Colorado Springs, by offering temporary shelter for displaced animals.

A 45-foot self contained rescue unit is being used to provide a safe and secure home away from home for pets.
