Life is now different in many ways at Pelham Houses in Bronxwood, changed by the murder of 88 year old Evelyn Shapiro.

"It happened right here, next door. That was my neighbor," Maria Casiano said. "Everybody's afraid."

Casiano's good friend was murdered last month. Shapiro was found lying on her hallway floor among bags of scattered groceries. She was beaten in the head.

Despite the12-thousand dollar reward, her killer is still at large.

City councilman Jimmy Vacca has announced that he has set aside four million dollars to install surveillance and cameras both at Pelham Parkway Houses and Throggs Neck Houses.

Installation of the new cameras will begin in 2013.
