Police investigate how girl got left on bus

IRVINGTON

The frightened little girl was crying and banging on the window for help until she was finally rescued by a woman driving by the bus.

Dallas Mitchell, 4, was supposed to be taken to the Learn to Love daycare center in /*Irvington*/, but instead ended up in the parking lot where the buses park.

It's believed the girl was on the bus for at least a half hour. She had fallen asleep.

The woman who heard the crying child, Dana Jenkins, called police, and then along with others tried to help get the child off the bus.

EMS and Police responded to the scene. Mitchell was evaluated by EMS and released to her mother.

The Essex County Prosecutor's office Special Victim's unit has been notified. They along with the Irvington Police will investigate to determine what if any charges will be filed.

No information about the bus driver was released.
