Recent instances of beachgoers stepping on needles

As New Yorkers look to the beaches to cool off, there have been recent instances of people getting jabbed by hypodermic needles.

On Tuesday, a lifeguard was stuck at Rockaway Beach in Queens.

Earlier in July on Staten Island two men were pricked by needles at South Beach.

A woman also stepped on a needle at Cedar Grove Beach.

There is no indication whether any of them were infected as a result.

The Parks Department says it cleans the sand at its beaches daily.
