Two people were killed Wednesday night and five others injured, when a driver trying to evade police smashed into another car in Poughkeepsie.

The driver, 22-year-old Ryan Floryan, has been charged with second degree manslaughter.

Prosecutors say Floryan ran a red light during the chase and hit the other car at an intersection.

At the time of the accident, Floryan was wanted by the New York State Division of Parole for a parole violation, and had two other pending warrants, one each in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie Courts.

The names of the victims have not yet been released and a passenger who was in Floryan's car remains hospitalized.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the City of Poughkeepsie Police Detective Division at (845) 451-4142.
