The police department said in a release late Sunday that an apparent drowning victim was found in the back-yard pool of a home along Montauk Highway at about 6 a.m. The age or identity of the male body was not immediately released pending notification of relatives.
The body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiners Office. Anyone with information was encouraged to call the Southampton Town Police department.
