Renewed calls for gun control

August 6, 2012

U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey is pushing a bill to close what is known as the "terror gap," which would give the feds the authority to stop someone from buying a gun if he's on the terror watch list. That's right - under current law, they can't.

And Mayor Bloomberg has put into higher gear his gun control campaign - coming out today in favor of the "terror gap" bill and taking out national TV ads yesterday to push for tighter gun control.

We take a look at the issue and the latest on the Sikh shooting (was the shooter a well-known white supremacist?), tonight at 11.

And we'll have information you need for your commute - as the New York-bound side of the Lincoln Tunnel starts a year-long construction projection. Ug.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Jeff Smith (in for Lee) with his AccuWeather forecast, and Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Diana Williams (in for Sade), tonight at 11.
