Animal activists hold horse carriage protest

NEW YORK

The Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages lead the demonstration at the north west corner of Central Park South & 5th Avenue, near the Horse Statue.

On Thursday, a horse ran wild after it broke free from its harness near Columbus Circle.

The horse named "Oreo" is now at his stable after being corralled by pedestrians.

He was checked out by a veterinarian. Animal control officials are forcing him to stay off the streets for a week and then they will decide if he should retire.
