An undercover investigation led to his arrest.
Shawn Mead, of /*Patchogue*/, worked at Lincoln Avenue Elementary School in /*Sayville*/ and surrendered to police Monday night. Authorities say he had numerous pornographic images of young children engaged in sexual activities.
The Computer Crimes Unit found the images during an undercover investigation into people trading such images online. There is no indication that Mead had any contact with any of the children in those images, and school officials say he was an overnight custodian who did not have contact with students.
Mead is charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child and is being held on $5,000 bail.
