A police dog that found a Long Island doctor who had gone missing is being celebrated.

The Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has named Chase, a 4-year-old German shepherd, as the "K-9 of the Year."

Chase got his award at a ceremony on Saturday.

Chase's two handlers credited the dog with discovering 76-year-old Dr. Jerome Nadler on Thursday in a Smithtown nature preserve.

He had been reported missing on Monday, after he had gone fly-fishing. Nadler was semiconscious and likely suffering from exposure when he was found, in a clearing surrounded by brush and thickets.
