Man arrested in Harlem elevator dog abuse

A man suspected of viciously attacking a dog was arrested in a rather ironic place.

Police say 28-year-old Brian Freeman of the Bronx is the man seen in surveillance video torturing a dog inside an elevator.

It happened at the Wagner Houses in East Harlem two weeks ago.

Sources tell Eyewitness News a detective on the case recognized the suspect inside a criminal court building and arrested him.

Freeman was in court for an unrelated matter.

The dog is a female, tan and white pit bull mix, around 1 year old. Her name is Hazel.

Hazel is doing well and is in the care of Animal Care and Control.

Police say the suspect's father is the one that brought the dog to the shelter.
